Morning: Stroll and explore Elounda
Start your day in Elounda, a calm coastal town just north of Agios Nikolaos. Once a quiet fishing village, it now hosts low-key resorts and tavernas with views of the Spinalonga Peninsula. It’s a good place for coffee, light shopping, or a walk along the harbor.
Late morning: Swim at Kolokitha Beach
From Elounda, take the causeway toward the Spinalonga Peninsula and follow signs to Kolokitha Beach. The road ends in a small parking area, followed by a 15–20 minute walk to the beach. It’s not organized-so bring water, shade, and swimwear. Expect clear shallow waters, ideal for swimming and snorkeling.
Evening: Sunset & dinner in Agios Nikolaos
Agios Nikolaos is known for its lakefront setting and relaxed atmosphere. Watch the sunset from the marina or cliffs near Lake Voulismeni. For dinner, you’ll find options ranging from casual fish tavernas to refined Cretan cuisine.
